Department: Chief Executive - Special Projects InfrastructureUndertook higher duties to lead the delivery of key waters services as part of the wider Waikato District Council strategic framework that will give effect to the vision of Liveable, Thriving, Connected Communities, Te Ture Whaimana, and Te Mana o te Wai, while the Waters Manager was on extended leave.Responsible for ensuring the continuity of waters levels of service insofar as key strategic support for the Chief Executive, Chief Operating Officer, General Manager Service Delivery, and the wider Executive Leadership Team across a range of three waters activities was delivered.Key Achievements:⢠Adoption of the Waikato District Council Water Supply Bylaw 2023.⢠Adoption of the 10 year capital program by Council, supported by an independent Waters Governance Board, amidst funding and legislative uncertainty. Strategic reprioritization of budgets and capital projects to accommodate Council's funding envelope, with particular focus on rates implications.⢠Obtaining approvals from the Department of Internal Affairs for major three waters projects pursuant to the Waters Services Entities Act 2022.⢠Leading negotiations with Waikato Regional Council regarding ownership and maintenance of stormwater and urbanized land drainage assets.
