I have 9 years of experience in a unique laboratory niche where I have supported 25 laboratories to get initial accreditation to ISO 15189, 1 laboratory in the pipeline for ISO 17043:2023 accreditation, and 1 laboratory to sustain ISO 17025:2017 accreditation. In collaboration with the National TB Reference Laboratory (NTRL), District Laboratory Focal Persons and the facility laboratory teams, the Laboratory system strengthening Advisor worked to ensure an effective laboratory network oversight role by the NTRL, including technical support in the scale up and optimization of the available Gene Xpert equipment in the country. Support was also given to ensure a functional specimen referral system through the national hub system, infrastructure improvement for laboratories on SLMTA and technical assistance to ensure laboratories achieve ISO 15189 accreditation.
