Provided engineering support to the Linux automated build environment. This environment leveraged Puppet, Ansible, Gerrit, and RedHat Satellite on top of VMWare’s Cloud Automation Services to give business units the ability to deploy their own virtual systems.• Assisted in the migration of over 1000 physical and virtual servers from Satellite 5.x to Satellite 6 infrastructure as well as from legacy Puppet infrastructure to Puppet Enterprise infrastructure.• Successfully upgraded an extremely outdated code management system that housed over 600 production Puppet modules. This upgrade jumped through 10 interim versions as well as a complete data architecture change with zero data loss and no unscheduled downtime.

Build and support converged systems comprised of storage, network, management, and compute all bundled into a single solution. Worked with EMC VNX and Unity storage, Cisco UCS, VmWare ESXi, and Cisco Network and Fibre Channel Switches. Additionally deployed and supported a DHCP/Kickstart environment to faster deployments.

Worked as an integration engineer and team lead for two different interoperability teams where I tested new operating system stacks including drivers, multipathing, volume management, and host clustering solutions against various ONTAP releases. Included in these are Solaris ZFS, Solaris MPxIO, Solaris SVM, Oracle Solaris Cluster, Veritas VxVM, Veritas VxFS, Veritas Cluster, Linux DMMP and LVM, and ESX. Additionally, I designed and managed two separate install environments based on Jumpstart for Solaris 10 and Automated Install for Solaris 11. I wrote and implemented a SAN management and zoning utility which allowed for simpler zoning and reporting. In addition to my time as an integration engineer, I worked on the SAN Automation team to put my Perl coding skills to use. While on the automation team I converted my zoning scripts into full blown Perl libraries and added enhanced dynamic discovery of resources to fully automate the zoning and unzoning of resources.

Level 2 support of Axion, a complex backup product running on clustered Linux Servers. Daily responsibilities include monitoring of system health, customer support, server fault diagnosis, server performance, as well as software installs and upgrades.

Primary Solaris systems administrator for the Sprint Cellular Billing Production and Staging environments supporting over 85 servers and over 80 terabytes of disk space. Backup on-call support for approximately 600 servers ranging from unit test to production and housing various client billing applications. Support daily operations of servers in a production data center to assure availability and high levels of performance. Primary SAN administrator of 16 McData Directors totally over 2200 switch ports. Mentor to junior administrators. Project leader for the Open Systems Group on various data center driven and client driven initiatives including performance benchmarks, server re-alignments, and environment expansions. Co-developer of the custom SAN management tool set used by the Convergys Data Center.

(February 1997 - September 2000) Unix Systems Administrator at Lockheed Martin in Orlando, Florida, Supporting approximately 250 users, across 3 sites developing the Federal Bureau of Investigation's Automated Fingerprint Identification System. Daily tasks include backup and recovery management of over 500 Gigabytes of data, commercial software installation, hardware installation and maintenance, user support, and system standardization. Additional responsibilities include network administration and configuration of two Powerhub 7000s and several Cisco catalysts and routers in various configurations.
