I was a division officer aboard the USS Louisiana Gold Crew (SSBN 743G). During which time, I served as the Main Propulsion Assistant, Chemistry/Radiological Officer, Tactical Systems Officer, Quality Assurance Officer, and Assistant Engineer.

Charleston, South Carolina Area

I was selected to be a staff instructor immediately after graduation from the Charleston Prototype training platform. When I was selected, there had only been one other Junior Officer that had been selected for this type of position. This selection would be happen about once every two classes, each with approximately 60 students per class. The position entailed standing Engineering Officer of the Watch (EOOW) as an overinstruction with the students and running 4-8 hours of the plant operations to support approximately 10-15 students' qualifications at a time. When I was not standing watch, I would give small group problem solving seminars, provide knowledge evaluations for the students, or operate the Interactive Display Equipment (IDE) (watchstation simulator). I was selected to be the Staff Drill EOOW based on my skill and level of knowledge.
