Once the foundation was in place, I took the Academy’s digital transformation to the next level. I launched WISE3, an innovation lab focused on researching and implementing emerging technologies to educate, equip, and enable hospitality workers to thrive in the face of automation and digitization. From developing VR training apps to creating a digital literacy program for frontline staff, WISE3 became a hub for workforce innovation.Operationally, I sourced and implemented enterprise solutions like a student information system, a learning management system, and grant management tools to streamline processes and enhance adaptability. During the pandemic, I also led a food assistance program that delivered over 35 million pounds of food to Southern Nevada residents. Seeing the systems I architected directly transform lives remains one of my proudest career achievements.

I established its first dynamic IT organization—a team of forward-thinking problem-solvers—and modernized the campus from the ground up. This advisory role was all about exploring how technology could reshape hospitality work and ensuring that workers were ready for what’s next. I partnered with union leaders to dig into the future of work, from assessing the impact of automation on frontline jobs to developing strategies that balanced innovation with worker enablement.One standout initiative? Visiting Carnegie Mellon University to evaluate robotics and discuss their potential impact on hospitality. Another highlight was collaborating with UNLV’s School of Engineering to prototype tools that make tasks like bed-making easier for housekeepers—minimizing injuries and making tough jobs a little bit better. At its heart, this role was about bridging the gap between advancing technology and the people who make the industry run.
