Hello, my name is Derrick Parker. Much like a package, my name is merely a label on a box. Cut the tape, pull back the flaps and you will find me much more revealing. Let's take a closer look. Look to the right of the box and you will see my education. I have a hard- earned degree from the University of Memphis in Electrical Engineering with a concentration in Power Systems, working at least two jobs along the way. This is the greatest achievement I have accomplished thus far, but it will definitely not be my last.As your eyes wander to the left of the package, my experience comes into the picture. I have completed numerous projects in power systems, power distribution, power quality, and electronics throughout my years of academia. Coupled with over 14+ excellent evaluated years in retail and management, I truly understand and utilize the concepts of teamwork, organization, and time management on a daily basis. Now push all that to the side and go a little deeper and you will see what everything in the box is placed: on hard work and desire. A firm belief placed inside of me, well before employment and college, in no matter how difficult the task, no matter how many times one fails, hard work trumps all. I'm usually the first to work and the last to leave. Simply, I finish the job. But do not close the box just yet . Do you see that? There is plenty of space left. I have much more that I desire and am willing to learn. My goal is to be the best engineer I can possibly be. Any training or skill that is needed, I will gladly learn.
