As mobile product manager at McClatchy, he oversaw the native apps, web and data products, balancing user needs, business requirements and internal resources for McClatchy's newspapers. Before moving into formal Product roles, Derrick was formerly deputy digital editor of The Straits Times in Singapore, where he key member of the newsroom's digital integration team and established the digital team's visual storytelling team. He spent two years as a technology writer at The Straits Times and has also written for CNN.com and The Associated Press. Derrick graduated with a masters in journalism from the University of Missouri, specialising in multimedia journalism, digital strategy and technology.
