Guided our schools through the transition of closing our High School. Supervised and developed a total staff of 45, including 28 elementary and junior high teachers. Presented to the School Board at every board meeting including updates on accreditation, academic programs, fundraising programs, student behavior, teacher professional development, and parent challenges. Updated our admissions process and our re-enrollment procedure making it all online for the convince of our parents. Disciplined and counseled students for any issues not adhering to school policy. Partnered with parents to correct student behavior. Anticipated potential Covid impacts and shut down. Prepared and instructed teachers in early February on how to move online. Created a lesson plan pilot for teachers to learn Google classroom. Helped the board determine how to keep the school operational.

Created a culture of life long learning within the student body and the staff. In 2013, partnered with the School Board and the Head of Schools to create a new mission, vision and values for the entire school system. Designed new logo for branding and launched a new website. Interviewed, hired, supervised and evaluated all school employees and offered feedback and training where needed based on evaluation and staff input. In 2015, developed a new and innovative first year training protocol and curriculum for new teachers to help in culture education and instruction on specific policies and procedures at CMCS. Provided and led professional development for teachers on effective teaching techniques, classroom management methods and implementing strategies for technology in the classroom. Led planning, evaluation and development of curriculum each year with department heads. Yearly coordinated with the Academic Dean as we reviewed and revised the scope and sequence within each department then created new or modified existing ESLRs (Expected Schoolwide Learning Results). Built productive relationships with parents of struggling students. Held quarterly parent meetings to help understand the community’s wants and needs. Used GOOGLE forms and SHELBY forms to yearly analyze our school’s performance from the parent (first and second semester) and student perspective (second semester). Using the recorded data, reported possible improvements of our program to our Head of Schools and Board, including the admissions policy, coverage of courses, instructional methods, student counseling, or aspects of our education program.

Followed the school’s ESLRs and our department’s scope and sequence as I course mapped my curriculum each year. Enhanced student learning by optimizing wide range of instructional approaches. First teacher at CMCS to implement a paperless classroom. Led student mission trips to impoverished communities in Los Angeles as well as overseas to serve communities in Haiti, Belize, Mexico and Ukraine. Became the department head in 2011 and in 2012 worked with the principal to completely change our department’s curriculum to facilitate the change we where seeing at the college level.
