As the Director of Athletic Inclusion at GVSU I am responsible for supporting, developing, managing,and implementing diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) strategies that promote and foster anaccessible, welcoming, affirming environment, and culture for 700+ student-athletes, coaches,and staff. The Inclusive work will support, coordinate, design, facilitate, and advocate for the various DEIprograms/initiatives for student-athletes and staff.

As the employment and workforce development specialist, I am a career advisor, trainer, coach/mentor, and peer navigator responsible for serving client guests. Helping them to overcome barriers to employment. I am responsible for creating relationships with past, present, and future employers. I am responsible for leading resume workshops, hiring events/fairs, maintaining functional/education and career plans, and all projects in employment. I am responsible for overseeing and facilitating financial literacy sessions, life skills, and administering various assessment tools as well as training models. I provided extensive knowledge to employers on Diversity Equity and Inclusion (DEI) and how to build relationships to retain employees and decrease turnover. With my background in HR, talent acquisition, university relations, and recruitment I am able to view workforce development from a strategic lens to be an asset to both employers and employees.

My primary focus in this role is to promote a safe school environment at Grand Rapids Ottawa Hills high school, by empowering students to make proper choices. I provide intervention for students that may need extra support in continuing their education. I assist students in reaching their educational goals by keeping them engaged in the learning process, which will lead to school success.
