An after-hours (sometimes during-hours) design and art studio.

For the past 5 years I have been teaching designers, artists, architects and other image makers to use machine learning and artificial intelligence. These classes are taught on site in NYC and remotely, for groups small and large. Students explore machine learning tools like LLMs, generative image and video models, while also exploring how to make custom datasets and train custom models.

Since joining Vista I have completely redesigned our multi-company account creation and login system, managed a team of designers responsible for our checkout and purchase experiences, led and contributed to Vista’s Brand Kit system from zero to one, and dramatically refreshed the customer experience for account and project management.

My job is part client liaison, part document writer, and all-around tinkerer on Atavist. I design things here (books, brands, sites). Sometimes I write code to make it look like the design. And sometimes I use code to make the design.At OAP I develop systems for book production. Sometimes that means creating tools for our technical and editorial teams to work more effectively together, blending my skills in design and development to quickly iterate on workflows. Sometimes it means hiring great illustrators and photographers for particular books. And the rest of the time it means creating branding and book design that informs, educates, and delights.
