Following the acquisition of Tobolski Watkins Engineering, Inc and TRU Compliance, LLC, in May 2017, Dr. Watkins joined the Structural Integrity Associates team to provide critical counsel and leadership in the newly formed Critical Structures and Facilities (CS&F). The CS&F team continues to focus on the delivery of innovative and cost-effective solutions to clients in highly regulated industries, such as healthcare, life sciences, nuclear power and others. Focus on unique and complex projects that require analysis and design against extreme loading conditions (earthquakes, tornado, and blast). Experience in the design, analysis, construction, and repair of heavy industrial structures including fossil and nuclear facilities. His skills include complex finite element analysis, seismic design for extreme earthquake events, design of rotating and vibrating equipment supports and foundations, anchorage to concrete, and equipment seismic qualification.Dr. Watkins has given numerous technical presentations to third party review panels and has successfully defended a variety of DOE projects in front of the Defense Nuclear Facility Safety Board (DNFSB), Army Corps of Engineers, and DOE peer review teams. He is a voting member of the ASCE 4 and 43 nuclear standards committees.
