Coordinate operations of the Business Development and Operations team with industry and other clients; identify and execute on strategic and pan-provincial opportunities across the province in all sectors. Lead on the deployment and execution of the Business-to-Business (B2B) Zone at Discovery 2019 (https://www.ocediscovery.com/page/1370617/b2b-zone). The B2B Zone connects large multinational organizations seeking solutions with technology companies that provide them through curated meetings.

The transformative technologies team was responsible for building and managing provincial networks for the development and commercialization of technology in the following areas: artificial intelligence/cognitive computing, autonomous vehicles, cybersecurity, financial technologies and next-generation 5G networks. OCE acted as central node connecting, academic research institutions, regional innovation centres, campus linked accelerators, start-ups, scale-ups and large enterprise. In this role, I was a member of an interorganizational (OCE, IBM, SOSCIP and 5 regional innovation centre) team responsible for building and maintaining the processes to deliver multimillion dollar collaborative initiatives leveraging the Ontario innovation ecosystem. OCE’s High Performance Computing initiative was responsible for the development of SOSCIP projects and the IBM Innovation Incubator Project (i3); a partnership between OCE, IBM, SOSCIP and the Government of Ontario to deliver technological resources, physical space, connections and expertise to Ontario based SMEs to help them grow their businesses. In this role the team worked directly with IBM and SOSCIP to generate leads and develop projects and proposals for funding through i3 and SOSCIP program offerings.

- Managed and directed a team of research associates and technicians toward the development of a rapid non-enzymatic isothermal molecular diagnostic assay. - Worked directly with the CSO/CEO to generate new product ideas and research projects. - Managed and directed collaborative projects with multiple labs at the University of Toronto.- Performed analysis of competitors technologies and market presence. - Performed market analysis and developed market entry strategies.- Involved in the preparation of provisional patent documents. - Involved in the ISO 13485 quality management system certification of ACGT Corporation. - Developed and optimized a number of methods and protocols for raw material production. - Successfully prepared documents/applications for the scientific research and experimental development (SR&ED) tax credit program offered by the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA).

Ph.D. Thesis Title: An Examination of the Response of Mammalian Cells to Oxidative DNADamage in Relation to Ageing and Neurodegeneration Using Recombinant Adenovirus Vectors• Perfected a number of technical skills including: mammalian tissue culture, viral and retroviral infections, PCR, DNA and Protein extraction, immunoprecipitation, enzymatic activity assays, fluorescence in situ hybridization, Southern and western blotting. • Initiated and established a collaborative research project with another research group that led to a graduate student position and the current research goal of the lab. • Co-mentored and trained the student assigned to the collaborative research project resulting in a number of peer reviewed publications including one I received co-authorship on: Batenburg NL, Mitchell TR, Leach DM, Rainbow AJ, Zhu XD. Nucleic Acids Res. 2012 Oct; 40(19):9661-74. • Published three additional scientific articles in peer reviewed journals with additional manuscripts in preparation for submission (Leach DM, Zacal NJ and Rainbow AJ.
