• Low Carbon Resources Initiative (LCRI) Technical Sub Committee lead - Hydrocarbon Processes• Developing Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) technology, low carbon resources and energy storage solutions to address the growing global demand for clean, affordable and reliable energy• Technical expertise in the field of combustion and CO2 capture technologies applicable to large scale power generation plant such as pre, post and oxyfuel combustion capture processes.• Key role in developing and winning more than $20 million in government R&D funding within the last 2 years.• Provide project management within the EPRI’s Fossil Fleet programs and related projects within the Advanced Combustion area of the Generation Sector, ensuring that projects meet technical and financial goals and high quality R&D results are delivered on schedule and to budget.• Work with member organizations to identify current and emerging technical issues related to advanced combustion power plant concepts, regularly conceiving and proposing innovative solutions and methods to address the many technical problems in development. • Managing complex technical projects involving numerous collaborative partner companies.• Work closely with EPRI member organizations alongside many prestigious European and worldwide manufacturers and research institutions in order to identify current and emerging technical issues related to the evaluation of CO2 capture process concepts.• Responsible for developing the key processes identified above through pilot and demonstration plant stages such that they rapidly evolve into the next generation of clean fossil fired utilities. • Communicate strategies and results, written and verbal with program membership and potential EPRI members via published peer reviewed papers, international workshops and presentations at global forums and conferences

• Industrial PhD combustion research sponsored by NEL, EPSRC & Mitsui Babcock • Investigating combustion and NOx predictions of coal fired burners using the FLUENT CFD code and validating results with test data from the Mitsui Babcock's NOx Reduction Test Facility. • The academic content of the research was assessed by the University of Strathclyde with the final external examination of the thesis undertaken by the University of Leeds. • Following this industrial focused research, the PhD degree was awarded in October 2002
