As a member of the Urban Transportation Commission appointed by Austin Mayor Kirk Watson, my role involves collaborating with other members appointed by their respective city councils from various districts. Together, our main objective is to provide valuable strategic guidance and expertise in addressing key issues related to city transportation.Through our collective efforts, we aim to offer insightful advice to Council members, the Mayor of Austin, and the city transportation department. This advice is crucial in facilitating effective decision-making processes that focus on areas such as safety, energy conservation, infrastructure development, improvement, and enhancing accessibility within our city.By leveraging our diverse backgrounds and expertise, we strive to contribute to the overall betterment of transportation systems and infrastructure in Austin. Our ultimate goal is to create a more sustainable, efficient, and accessible transportation network that enhances the quality of life for all residents.

Is the ATA venue for addressing the highway accident litigation crisis and other forms of lawsuit abuse. The Committee brings together all the relevant stakeholders—motor carrier in-house counsel, members of the insurance industry, private-practice lawyers who defend motor carriers, state trucking association executives, and any others concerned with the problem of lawsuit abuse against the trucking industry—to make recommendations to the appropriate bodies within ATA on the development and implementation of strategies and solutions to combat lawsuit abuse, and other legal reforms.
