Nitin Deshpande, P.E., PTOE leads the state’s Traffic Operations, Signals and Technology program. He holds a BS degree in Civil Engineering, MBA in Personnel/Finance Management, and a MS degree in Transportation Engineering. He has over twenty (20) years of transportation engineering, traffic operations, maintenance management, and program/project management experience. Nitin has been leading the statewide traffic signal program advancing the state-of-practice in traffic signal & ramp metering throughout the state. He also serves as the Statewide Traffic Signal Asset Manager. His expertise is in transportation asset management, traffic engineering, traffic signal operations, intelligent transportation systems (ITS), automated performance measures, Transportation Systems Management & Operations (TSM&O), big data analysis, and innovative transportation solutions. Nitin also has experience providing oversight on federal aid funded ITS/technology projects for Local Public Agencies (LPAs), including Systems Engineering Analysis (SEA) process. Nitin has both the public and private sector experience. He has presented at national and international conferences and published several journal papers/newsletter articles. He is an active member of the ITE.
