I introduced an innovative ID system for uniquely identifying each sample, which streamlined data retrieval and organization, leading to a 40% reduction in query response time and significantly accelerating our data processing workflows. Additionally, I developed a series of visualizations—scatter plots, pie charts, and heatmaps—using R to reveal critical insights into the distribution and concentration of microplastics across various locations and environmental parameters. These visualizations facilitated a 30% improvement in data interpretation for our research team, driving more informed decision-making. By conducting correlation analysis between environmental factors such as temperature, salinity, and pH with microplastics concentration, I uncovered key relationships that had previously been overlooked, paving the way for more targeted research efforts. This project, which integrated SQL for database management, Scala for handling large-scale data processing, and R for statistical analysis and visualization, not only advanced our understanding of microplastic pollution but also improved the overall efficiency of our research operations by 35%. The refined database now serves as a robust tool for ongoing studies, supporting more accurate and actionable insights into the environmental impact of microplastics.
