In my next chapter, my aim is to share the multi-faceted gifts that my life and career have given through my purpose which is to connect and discover the unbeaten path with me. If you’re a like-minded person, I’d genuinely love to connect. The multiplicity of living and working in different countries, cultures, and contexts has given me the agility and experience to shape and enrich the unique and diverse leader I am today. Born in Alaska to Dutch expats, I have lived and worked in the US, South America, Europe, and Asia whilst become fluent in 4 languages - English, Dutch, French and Spanish. I started my career in marketing in the software Industry, a role which led me from the US to become Oracle’s Head of PR in EMEA.From here I went to work for two technology start-up companies in Santiago, Chile before moving to Tokyo, London and Istanbul with my family. In Istanbul, I first entered into entrepreneurship by starting a small photography business and photography club. When our family moved to Beijing I started another business importing hand-woven textiles from Turkey and Cambodia successfully selling them through online and offline channels throughout Beijing and Shanghai. Beijing gave me the opportunity to become an indoor cycling instructor and prioritize my fitness, health and wellbeing in a way I had not done before. I also assumed leadership roles in cause-driven women’s social networks such as Wild Women on the Wall and the Champagne and Caviar Club. My entrepreneurial and corporate management experience led to my role as Director of Business Growth and Expansion at Bearapy, a mental health consultancy focused on sustainable workplace mental health. After 10 rewarding years in Beijing, I made the bold decision to return to Europe and live in Amsterdam. A chance meeting at a networking event led me to join Markd Global, a purpose-driven marketing company that helps leaders and companies globally make a meaningful mark in the world. This is a full circle story where my global leadership experience, passion for wellness and expertise in marketing, communication, and entrepreneurship come together to make a difference to others.

Director, Business Growth & ExpansionBearapy Feb 2021 - Jun 2023Amsterdam, North Holland, NetherlandsWith my multi-faceted entrepreneurial and corporate management experience, I have seen firsthand how easily people hit mental burnout – and did not know it. Wanting to change this, I worked as the Director of Business Growth and Expansion at BEARAPY. Bearapy’s mission is to make mental wellbeing the forefront of companies’ agenda for the organization and individual executives. I was responsible for further promoting the Bearapy presence in China by focusing on business development growth through foreign companies, chambers of commerce, embassies and non-profit organizations. Based in Beijing, I advocated awareness of emotional and mental health issues in organizations and advised senior leaders on strategies to improve the resilience of the organization as a whole – not just a one-off workshop but a comprehensive plan to promote change in mindsets and behaviours. Having grown up as an expatriate child and now continuing to move around as an adult, I am familiar with the journey of a trailing spouse and the challenge of having to re-invent yourself in new settings, and how to build resilience through these changes whilst maintaining an equilibrium between all the priorities in life. -
