Author of two nonfiction middle-grade books for children: The Buffalo Train Ride published by Doodle & Peck Publishing (2019) and Bone Head: Story of the Longhorn published by Eakin Press, two plays, “Sand Trap” and “Paper Cuts”, and four jointly-authored professional books for librarians, published by ABC-CLIO. Both of her children’s books, Buffalo Train Ride and Bone Head: Story of the Longhorn, were named Oklahoma Book Award Finalists by the Oklahoma Center for the Book. In addition, Webber received the Delta Kappa Gamma Society International Author’s Award for Buffalo Train Ride. Her three professional books include: 1) Travel the Globe: Story Times, Activities, and Crafts for Children, 2nd edition, 2013, 2) Integrated Library Systems: Planning, Selecting and Implementing, 2010, 3) The Kids’ Book Club: Lively Reading and Activities for Grades 1-3, 2001, and 4) Travel the Globe: Multicultural Story Times, 1998. The latter book was named a “Storytelling World” honor title. Desiree Webber is a former library director and youth services librarian. She has a B.A. in Communications from the University of California, San Diego and a Masters in Library and Information Studies at the University of Oklahoma.

• Assisted in passage of a $3.6 million bond issue to expand the Mustang Public Library, banquet hall and construct baseball fields.• Supervised and managed the daily operations. Administered an annual budget of $450,000.00.• Worked effectively with the Friends of the Mustang Library, which raised over $400,000.00 in a fifteen-year period and was named Best Friends group in Oklahoma six times over an eight-year period.• Fifteen years’ experience lobbying state legislators on library issues and funding.• Worked with state representatives on legislation to change funding formula and increase State Aid funding for public libraries across the state. • Work efficiently with Mustang Library Board of Trustees, writing and implementing the Long-Range Strategic Plan and Technology Plan.• Planned and implemented an annual “Elected Officials’ Reception” that was attended by state legislators, field representatives from congressional representatives, as well as county commissioners, city council, mayor and others. • Event Planning and public relations.• Grant writing.• Spoke to groups about the library’s services and programs.• Supervised all technology in the library including computer equipment (servers, workstations, wireless antennas, network printers) and a variety of software that operated different functions of the library.• Served in many chairperson positions with the American Library Association and the Oklahoma Library Association.
