Samancor Manganese: 1999-2001HR Leader for the organisation, located at the corporate office in Johannesburg. Member of the Executive Leadership Team and reported directly to the CEO, at the time. Client facing groups: Marketing, Finance, Legal, Geology, General Managers: Operations and all other functional heads.Partnered with the CEO, Senior Management and functional leaders across the business, developing the HR strategy, providing advice and leading the delivery of HR, across the full employee life cycle. Managed the organisations human resources (approximately 5000 people across 8 sites. I aligned all facets of HR with strategic business objectives. Worked closely with the CEO, Senior Managers, site HR leaders, and Group HR in London to achieve alignment.In terms of HRIS, I worked with the IBM Platform AS400 for HRIS and CYBORG HRIS. Accomplishments included:■ Led the people side of transformation, when the organisation downsized. The Group HR Leader commended me for the way in which I managed this transformation process from end-to-end.■ Managed the implementation of a Group HR initiated Executive Development Program, which created a platform from which leadership capability could be built, to prepare the organisation for future growth.■ Designed a talent management system, the outcomes of which provided the CEO, senior management and functional leaders with insightful reports and intelligence regarding people performance, capability, leadership development needs and readiness for succession.■ Designed and implemented a culture and attitude survey, which involved a target group of approximately 200 people across 8 sites globally.■ Developed a retention strategy for the organisation
