The Far Away Project is a California registered 501c3, connecting communities globally, to accelerate impact with shared resources, using systems and design thinking, and leadership development. Through our framework, we listen to what communities want help in changing, focus global attention to the issue(s), facilitate sharing of resources and skills, then accelerate leaders and their projects. Cross-pollinating startup and tech principles with aid and development work has proven to be our niche. Supporting environmentally regenerative and maker initiatives, redesigning systems impacted by climate destabilization and resource scarcity, and scaling the impact of grassroots ideas are some of our strengths as an organization.

From startup launches to nonprofit fundraisers, large-scale immersive art installations, networking events and speaking engagements- Desiree's breadth and range of events produced is vast. Recently emphasizing more on collaborations with nonprofits and social impact organizations that further sustainability goals, ocean conservation and disaster relief efforts.

Founded in 2011 to harness the political power of the startup and tech communities, Engine is a policy, advocacy, and research organization supporting startups as an engine for economic growth. Engine was instrumental in helping to defeat SOPA/PIPA and securing passage of the JOBS Act. Engine Research Foundation is a 501(c)(3) and Engine Advocacy is a 501(c)(4).Board of advisors include well-known angel investor Ron Conway, The Foundry Group venture firm partners Brad Feld and Jason Mendelson and John Lilly of Greylock.
