About Desirée Van Dun

I am an engaged scholar in the field of Business Administration, particularly Change Management, Organizational Behavior, and Operations Management. My Cum Laude Ph.D. dissertation, entitled "Improving Lean Team Performance: Leadership and Workfloor Dynamics," won the international 2015 Emerald/EFMD Outstanding Doctoral Research Award in the Operations and Production Management category as well as the University of Twente’s Best Doctoral Dissertation Award (Overijssel PhD Award 2016). In my position as an Assistant Professor, I contribute practically-relevant academic research and teaching that is also rooted in my 10 years of practical experiences as a management consultant at House of Performance. Since 2008, I helped improve the performance of teams and organizations. Particularly in the field of Lean leadership development, team-effectiveness, process improvement, and strategically aligned operations management. Assistant Professor Organizational Behaviour And Change Management

I am a tenured assistant professor at the Organizational Behaviour, Change Management & Consultancy (OBCC) research group, which is embedded in the Industrial Engineering and Business Information Systems section of the High-tech Business and Entrepreneurship department at the Faculty of Behavioural, Management and Social Sciences (https://www.utwente.nl/en/bms/iebis/foe/OBCC/). As an engaged scholar, I contribute practically-relevant academic research and teaching.Together with my PhD students, I develop knowledge and insights on achieving Sustainable Operational Excellence. Examples are: multi-level leader and team behaviors for lean and green operations management, change processes and leadership for the effective adoption of Industry 4.0/Smart Industry, and work-floor team dynamics across national cultures. With this research, I intend to improve workplace performance and contribute to conditions for employee thriving. I tend to bridge the domains of Organizational Behaviour, Change Management and Operations Management and publish in various types of academic top journal.In my research I tend to use a mix of methods including video-analysis of workplace behavior, skin conductance to capture physiological arousal, longitudinal mixed-methods field studies, surveys, interviewing, focus groups, Delphi studies, and systematic literature reviews.In terms of teaching I steer student's active engagement and contributing to improving the inner workings of our own university towards operational excellence, by using real-life UT cases as part of challenge-based learning. I am teaching and co-coordinating the Master Honours Change Leaders programme, the Bachelor Honours Processes of Change track, the MSc Business Administration track 'International Management & Consultancy'. I am also involved in the Transdisciplinary Master-Insert Shaping Responsible Futures, the Energy Transition Perspectives minor, and the Going Dutch minor.
