About Desmond Smith

In my prior role I leveraged my years of experience within IT to direct and develop a brand new team, business initiative, business processes, and newly created successful business model at a Fortune 10 organization. This newly created business initiative oversaw the onboarding, training, and IT Support of 4400 new hires in the 2024 calendar year. Additionally, this team will be responsible for onboarding and supporting 4700 new hires in 2025. This newly created initiative is one that has not been attempted in history of UnitedHealth Group prior to my team's creation. At UnitedHealth Group, my team has successfully expanded IT Liaison Support Services, integrating them seamlessly into Optum Home and Community’s comprehensive onboarding program. This initiative has empowered over 4400 new hires in 2024 alone, ensuring each individual wss fully equipped for success in their roles from an IT perspective. Our collaborative approach, partnering with VP's and Sr. Directors, has refined the new-hire support process, enhancing their overall first impression experience.Leading the charge in developing and managing a dedicated team of White Glove IT Support professionals, we catered to the unique needs of Optum: Home and Community, including the support of all clinical new hires. This strategic leadership not only streamlined the IT onboarding and training operations but also guaranteed proper remote workstation setups across new and existing markets.
