At 8fit I led a team of developers, building new features and maintaining the 8fit mobile app. Specifically, my team was responsible for features related to workouts. Workouts make up the bulk of the app’s freemium content, meaning our code is enjoyed by millions of users monthly.My duties include:- Writing code daily- Building and maintaining a multi-platform, 95% React Native mobile app- Leading technical improvement discussions and implementation planning- Interviewing, hiring and team building- Managing developers with a focus on their own career development and happiness at work- Collecting feedback on our teams process and organising retrospectives to improve inefficiencies and innovate on process

Over the three years at LiveQoS I have worked on everything from low level kernel development to building the UI for mobile applications. Working here has given me insight into the building of complex applications that start with product definition and skirmishes in the board room, move to theoretical architectures, to prototypes, and finally to production ready applications.Even as a new grad, I was given the opportunity to help shape the direction of projects.Here are a few things I worked on:- A golang application that gathered public network information for reporting to a web application.- Built an iOS app that crawls through a users email attachments and displays them to the user in a manageable, searchable way.- Helped port a C based, linux kernel module to a C library for use in a Java application.- Built a command line interface for advanced configuration of a windows network driver.- Set up test infrastructure for testing in a virtual desktop environment with Xen Server and VMWare ESX.
