Welcome to your friendly neighborhood toxicologist’s profile! I'm Dessi and I’ve been a board-certified toxicologist within the pharma industry for well over a decade. My specialty is in oncology, but my expertise as a whole spans a greater spectrum.I initially ignited my career at Pfizer as a Study Scientist where I personally executed nonGLP and GLP toxicology, safety pharmacology and DART studies. This work gave me a strong foundation for understanding study design and execution at the highest level. I then spent the next couple of years becoming a SEND expert at Instem, notably active within regulatory and industry standard consortiums for dataset optimization and integration. A nagging desire to get back into the science of it all landed me at Epizyme where I oversaw the nonclinical safety packages for several small molecule oncology programs. After an unexpected acquisition, I found myself as Associate Director of Toxicology at Q32 Bio working with some of the most intelligent people on developing large molecule therapeutics for autoimmune diseases. Oncology still tugged at my heartstrings, however, and in response to several consulting requests I started my own company, Toxistrategy LLC, to help oncology startups with their toxicology programs and get their breakthrough drugs to the clinic. I've since been the go-to toxicologist at numerous different startups, batting a thousand in regulatory submissions and continuing to help advance critical medicines to the patients that need them.
