Over five years, starting in 2012, the two Bournemouth BIDs will be investing £7 million in the local economy. Core funding comes from the 585 eligible businesses in the Town Centre BID and 780 eligible businesses in the Coastal BID. On top of these levy contributions, the Boards anticipate they will be able to lever in an additional 30% through voluntary contributions, sponsorship and matched funding for specific projects. BIDs are run by not-for-profit companies limited by guarantee. The Coastal BID places the emphasis on bringing people to stay in the town for longer and encouraging them to visit more of the coastal strip, particularly outside the main summer season. Marketing, events and promoting the three trading districts are the key aspects of its business plan.

Established in 2006, the ground-breaking Bournemouth Tourism Management Board (BTMB) was set up to “Develop and assist delivery of a shared vision for a prosperous tourism industry in Bournemouth that will enable the Borough to develop as a market leading resort.”This is the country’s first board that truly represents all sectors of the visitor economy including the often overlooked, but vital, services of transportation, entertainment and retailing.The BTMB has a very different tourism partnering formula that holds the members collectively responsible for the town’s destination management.

We are a local branch of Bournemouth Chamber of Trade and Commerce, run completely by volunteers working to bring the local business community together for mutual benefit.
