“Fiercely loyal to small business” best describes myself and my reason for beginning Travel Backroads. Born and raised in a Rapid City, SD, I married, and from there I soon learned to love and respect rural living. I have lived in a great number of small towns, loving them all! Jumping ahead to my last community in which I lived, recent and through employment, I learned to “drive the passion to go local” as the Executive Director of Economic Development. I discovered however, for me, that “COMMUNITY” development needs to be part of the whole picture. Blessed with some great Board of Directors, I was free to do both.Out of it all, it soon became apparent that I wanted to help others discover what I treasured about rural. I want to draw travelers to experience the rural setting, to venture down rural roads and highways, or down a city street and discover those little "diamonds in the rough" businesses and communities. Travel Backroads became my business. Developing a website and social media marketing, I’ve chosen to help travelers through the upper Midwest on any highway they choose. I am excited to direct others to some of the most unique "off the beaten path” businesses. I soon learned I loved helping, coaching and promoting local and small businesses and communities.So my story continues to promote and share with others my passion.
