Deunte "Ty" Banks is an Entrepreneur, Philanthropist, Plant-Based Culinary Master, as well as A Community Activist & Organizer. Born in Fairhope, AL on September 20, 1992, Ty got a taste of the country-life early and spent his youth getting to know his southern roots. His father left his life at a young age and he was raised primarily by his mother and grandmother. After his grandmother passed away in the year 2,000, He and mom set out for a fresh start. His mom pulled out a map and asked him to randomly choose a location. Little did he know, that spot on the map labeled Ohio, would be the place he'd meet his wife / future business partner, start a family and become a Proud Alumnus of THE Ohio State University.After Receiving his Bachelor's at THE Ohio State University in Strategic Communications with a focus in Media, Marketing and Advertising, he would receive a phone call that would change his life forever. On May 1st, 2017 he received news that his brother had been shot and killed due to gun violence in Columbus, OH, the place he would now call home.This significant loss would be the one that would motivate him to dedicate the rest of his life to service. He launched his business, Where it All Vegan LLC in the fall of 2019 with a business model geared towards social change. He came up with an innovative approach to help heal his community through Nature, Wellness and Resource Reallocation. By bringing people together and sharing resources as well as educating the youth on how to navigate life, he set out to partner with the City of Columbus to introduce more plant-based options into the inner city schools.This passion for service led him to work for the City in the public sector, where he set out to grow and expand his professional network of like-minded individuals, all pushing for more social equity.His goal is to save as many youth as he possibly can. By being a Mentor, Job readiness Coach, Life Coach as well as an active community member / organizer, he visits some of the roughest areas in the city to meet the youth where they are and share his story. Today, Ty is an integral part of the Youth Development Section for the City of Columbus' Recreation & Parks department. His job is to work alongside Columbus Public Health with some of the City's most At-Risk-Youth, helping to Re-Route them onto a better path.

My job as an Interventionist is to simply find ways to serve the community. I work directly alongside Columbus Public Health to provide wrap around services for At-Risk-Youth and families in need that have been victims of violence or crime and need assistance with Neighborhood Violence Intervention.We take a wholistic approach and serve both the youth and family by connecting them to community resources and our partners to provide needs based counseling, mental health support / grief counseling as well as academic support and case management, to help combat issues in our communities such as: Homelessness and Food Insecurity. Youth Development ProfessionalBoys & Girls Clubs Of America Apr 2017 - Sep 2017Columbus, Ohio, United StatesWhile finishing my Undergrad at OSU, I Worked with the Boys and Girls Club of Columbus (BGCC) as a Youth Development Professional. My job was teaching reading and writing skills to inner-city youth, Grades (K-4.) I was fortunate to have worked alongside other OSU college students, who shared a similar passion for helping shape the future leaders of our community.Together we created Lesson plans, and Implemented techniques to assist with our early Literacy Programs. We Used proven Classroom Management Strategies to measure both Performance and Learning Objectives. We also actively Engaged students with fun and interactive Brain Games to help boost assessment scores for the upcoming academic school year.By giving us data to show what the needs of the youth were, we were then charged with creating our own dynamic lesson plans. This is where I learned to create needs-based curriculums with my team and still utilize some of our lesson plans to this day. The Boys and Girls Club started as a playful safe space for me as a kid. I never would've thought that I'd have the chance to provide just that; a safe space for kids years later in my professional career. Talk about a full circle moment. -
Client Service SpecialistGcg (Garden City Group) Jul 2016 - Jan 2017Dublin, OhI Was contracted to work a special assignment due to the 2010 BP Oil Spill Crisis, which affected millions of people across the country. My job was to help manage the accounts of those individuals that were directly affected by the spill. I was fortunate enough to gain true industry experience from Real Lawyers and learned a lot about the processes involving litigation with big corporations; in particular, we focused on class action lawsuits and cases involving punitive damages. More specifically, I Researched cases and verified individual account information as well as, Analyzed numbers to help deem an approximate settlement amount based on the figures outlined in the class-action suit. I also Received Inbound and placed Outbound calls daily; in order to update clients on case details / specifics. Part of my other duties included Responding to client inquiries daily via email and documenting details thoroughly. I was also charged with Handling client complaints / disputes and helped individuals better understand their award letters, so they would know exactly how much they would be compensated and whether or not they could try and pursue further for punitive damages. All in All, this experience taught me the value of being human. What I took away most from this experience was learning how to deal with angry customers. In this case, these individuals lost nearly everything and had every right to be upset and by learning to show empathy and compassion, I was able to better assist my clients. I was able to get them to listen to me instead of assume that I was working for the enemy and didn't care about them at all. I did this by always building rapport with the client first. This strategy made the client feel as if they were talking with a friend or family member and allowed our interactions to flow so much smoother. I'm forever grateful to have been apart of helping provide aid / relief to those affected most by the crisis.
