The objective of this study is to determine a size of the microbial fuel cell needed for the treatment of waste water from textile industries. We analyzed the maximum electricity generation and the substrate concentration needed using the Monod−type equation which solved by the use of Newton−Raphson numerical method for non−linear equations in a FORTRAN 90 computer program.Textile wastewater with inoculated biomass is used as the analytic solution in MFC for textile effluent treatment. In cathode chamber, reduction of oxygen to water is achieved with algal culture. Multiple graphite electrodes in both chambers are used to increase the surface area for efficient electron transfer and energy generation. Show less
