Managed the secretariat of the NRC’s Governing Board and its executive committee. Responsible for the process to review and approve prospectuses to generate revenues for conducting studies that comprise annual expenditures of about $300 million. Facilitated institutional compliance with the Federal Advisory Committee Act (FACA) Section 15. Served on President's Intramural Awards Committee and Auditing Committee. Assessed quality, impact, and importance of NRC and IOM activities. Examined institutional practices and performed quality evaluations. Promulgated good practices through staff development and other training programs. Co-Directed the management of nine independent boards responsible for planning and executing studies for various U.S. federal agencies and the Congress. Had oversight responsibility for the work of seventy staff members and annual expenditures of over $10 million. Served as the executive officer of the NRC’s Board on Energy and Environmental Systems. Launched and managed projects, developed prospectuses for new activities and negotiated contracts with federal agencies. Mobilized the nation's best scientific and engineering talent to conduct studies and inform public debates in all aspects of energy.
