About Devansh Satra

I am currently pursuing an Honours Degree in the Engineering Physics Department, with a research interest in Condensed Matter Physics, particularly in the field of Quantum Materials, Nanoelectronics, and Superconductivity.I have been involved in several important projects during my academic journey. One notable project focused on modeling the spatio-temporal movement of proteins in cells, where I developed a unique computational model using the Stochastic Gillespie Algorithm. I also worked as a member of the Mars Rover Team, contributing to the development of an autonomous rover for traversing rough terrains and implementing tasks on the Martian surface. Our team received recognition, including winning the Best Navigation Award in the European Rover Challenge and achieving a high position in the Indian Rover Design Challenge as well as the University Rover Challenge.I am passionate about applying my knowledge in Condensed Matter Physics. I am actively seeking opportunities to contribute to research projects in these areas. If you are interested in collaborations or have relevant opportunities, please feel free to connect with me.

The focus is on developing an advanced simulation framework to study the movement and interactions of proteins within cells. Leveraging mathematical modeling, statistical analysis, and programming skills, I have made significant progress in implementing the Gillespie algorithm for simulating 2-dimensional reaction-diffusion systems.Project Highlights:- Demonstrated proficiency in the Gillespie algorithm by reproducing results from the seminal Gillespie Paper (1977) in MATLAB.-Acquired in-depth knowledge of biochemical oscillators and the underlying principles governing protein movement and reactions by studying relevant research papers.-Utilized XPPAUT software to numerically solve and perform bifurcation analysis on the differential equations describing the reaction systems.- Expanded the Gillespie algorithm to incorporate diffusion in a compartment-based approach, enabling the simulation of realistic reaction-diffusion systems within cells.- Developed a flexible simulation framework capable of modeling complex chemical reactions in a 2-D lattice, representing cellular compartments.- Successfully simulated a 10x10 and then a 50x50 grid system with multiple chemical species and reactions, including diffusion.- Scaled up the model by incorporating a realistic cell model with a nucleus, organelles, and localized reaction systems, feedback loops, and transport phenomena.
