About Devanshi Khetarpal
I am a Truman Capote and Sonny Mehta fellow in Fiction at the Iowa Writers' Workshop. I hold a Master's in Comparative Literature from New York University (NYU), where I specialized in Italian Studies and wrote a thesis on Elena Ferrante's Neapolitan novels. In 2021, I graduated magna cum laude as a University Honors Scholar with a Bachelor's degree in Comparative Literature, and a minor in Creative Writing from New York University. I am the founder and editor-in-chief of Inklette Magazine, and served as a Poetry Reader for The Iowa Review. I have previously held positions at The Tutorverse, Fledgling Writing Workshops, and the NYU Department of Comparative Literature, among others. My work has been published or is forthcoming in The Master's Review, Pleiades, Indiana Review, Suspect, Public Books, Poetry at Sangam, Redivider, and The Bombay Literary Magazine, among others. My poetry collection, 'Small Talk,' was published in 2019 by Writers Workshop in Kolkata, India. I am grateful to have received support from Bread Loaf Translators' Conference, Yale Writers' Workshop, and the Juniper Writing Institute at UMass Amherst. My poetry and fiction was long-listed for the 2023 Toto Award for Creative Writing in English, and my poem was named a finalist for the 2024 Prufer Poetry Prize judged by Nicky Beer. Besides writing, I am also a passionate long distance runner and am currently training for the 2024 NYC Marathon. I am working on a collection of short stories and a novel. I am from Bhopal, India, but currently divide my time between Iowa City and New York City. I am open for opportunities in writing, editing, publishing, teaching, copywriting, and administration.
