A Public Health professional in Environmental Health Science and Policy. An experienced dentist, researcher and published author with a demonstrated commitment to cross-cultural work aimed at improving health and well-being outcomes for the underserved with a focus on sustainable capacity building and workers’ health. Areas of interest and employment history include occupational health and safety, rural and remote oral and general health, climate change, community-based adaptation strategies to fight climate change, social determinants of health, environmental justice, global human rights, non-profit organizations, public policy, community-based participatory and clinical research. I have also been involved in programs that utilize electronic data collection to perform environmental surveillance in resource-limited areas. Multilingual with hands-on experience in national and international settings. I have spent the last few years utilizing my diverse background (both cultural and academic) to pursue what I passionately feel for! A dentist by profession, I began feverishly doing research about environmental racism, climate change and occupational health a few years back. I was admittedly, obsessed. Then I did the next logical thing and jumped on a plane to fly across the continent, come to Washington D.C. and start this amazing journey of learning. At the core, I feel I am just a concerned individual and that is all it really comes down to. There is certainly more to learn, more problems to solve and more to build. And I am here for it. When I’m not in the field working, pivoting tables or in denial about having a social life, I’m at home reading and napping or enjoying the various hiking spots that D.C has to offer.
