15 years and many miles to go... Currently, I am working with the Economic Times as a Deputy News Editor. My last assignment was with The Hindustan Times as an Assistant Editor. I have also worked with The Times of India and The Indian Express.I began my career at the Pioneer, as a copy editor. I played a vital role in conceptualising story ideas and photographs, giving creative inputs for headlines, intros and photo captions. Later, I joined The Hindustan Times, the second most read national daily after TOI as a senior staff writer. There too my role was similar to that in Pioneer, with only difference that I also got the opportunity to work on various special projects. During the course of my 4 yrs stint , I was also awarded the Hindustan Times Journalist Of the Month award for reporting and research for special projects. After, Hindustan Times, I joined a B 2 B travel magazine titled Today’s Traveller, published by Gill Communications Pvt Ltd. Here I have got an opportunity to dabble with various facets of the travel and hospitality industry. Here my role was to manage the whole content of the magazine, conceptualising story ideas, writing travel features, proof- read articles and work closely with the designers on pictures and the magazine layout. After nearly 1 and half months, I joined Mail Today (India Today Group) as a chief copy editor. There, I was responsible for copy editing, rewriting, making pages in close coordination with designers.I am quite fascinated by the potential of digital and social media as a tool of instant mass communication. Digital/Online Journalism in India looks competitive, high-quality and in future will be well-funded. Traditional media houses in India and worldwide now increasingly think of content as not only about words but rather a product that can be fine-tuned and optimised to suit an organisations' needs. I believe in changing according to time. And the digital media is one such platform i want to explore and excel in a sincere bid to help my career grow.
