As an early employee (#11), I was a key contributor to Icontrol’s success. Hired initially as IT Manager, my areas of responsibility included backend and desktop management, build/release management, development of enterprise software packaging, installation mechanisms and tools used to support many distinct environments and IoT devices. Over the years, as the company evolved, so did my role. I successfully built and transitioned the corporate IT support team, implemented companywide processes and policies, architected the entire Icontrol network (corp and colo), established a robust multi-datacenter infrastructure, managed a multi-million-dollar annual budget and maintained strict SLAs. While working closely with the exec team, we successfully operationalized and advanced many new state-of-the-art products and platforms. My operations organization supports the production Smart Home as a Service (SHaaS) platform for multiple enterprise customers. This includes all services, servers, network and infrastructure as well as the device ecosystem for each and every Connected Home end-user.

While at Elance, provided 24x7 on-call support and maintained over 200 Solaris and Linux systems in 4 separate Bay Area data centers. Also worked closely with product development to validate, build/compile and deploy enterprise applications.

Managed and mentored a team of 5 Sr. System Engineers responsible for day-to-day technical operations of the Sunnyvale, CA 70,000 sq. ft. data center and escalation support globally. The environment consisted of more than 5,000 servers distributed through 10 data centers. Additionally, I provided local hands-on technical leadership of the fully staffed 24x7 hosting operations center. Worked closely with customers and vendors to plan, build and deploy custom hosting solutions able to sustain five 9's system availability. Planned and performed data center migrations for customers and internal systems from the San Francisco data center to the Sunnyvale data center. Notable customers were Akamai, Salesforce.com, Esurance, IBM, Daimler Chrysler, Graebel, eBay.

Provided on call support and day-to-day maintenance of mission critical cargo & passenger computer systems, servers, terminals and desktops for the largest air mobility organization in the Air Force. The USAF Cargo and Passenger System (CAPSII and GATES) was a globally distributed system with satellite sites running autonomously producing and consuming data within the system. Implemented strong security measures, trained numerous personnel in Unix system administration and network troubleshooting. Created SQL database to maintain all hardware, software and license information in a custom asset inventory system. During summer of 1997 deployed to Prince Sultan Air Base in Saudi Arabia for 100 days in support of “Operation Southern Watch”. Administered two Sun SPARC Ultra 5 workstations, maintained system performance, system backups and performed application maintenance. Handled data records/reports and reconciled cargo and passenger manifests to recover tens of thousands of dollars in lost freight invoices.
