I've worked on some features to allow the site to function properly for high volume user (>1.5M followers) such as an iterated queue worker to avoid queue starvation or process interruption problems.I also created several services with Python and Thrift; the trend service for lexical analysis of the Question Of the Day responses using MongoDB, event weekly counting using Redis, the generic Smile service and the Smile Response feature using Cassandra.I've also introduced Chef for infrastructure automation, demonstrated the usefulness by setting up Scribe and Ganglia/Graphite automatically on all the machines. Chef was subsequently adopted for creating and setting up machines.I've contributed back to the python-riak driver, several ganglia gmetric plugins, a faster ganglia to graphite bridge and several chef cookbooks.
