Worked to create a culture of health in Northwest Arkansas by partnering with businesses and community organizations to implement American Heart Association's evidence-based practices and programs. Implemented programs including the high blood pressure management program called Check. Change. Control, the Healthy Workplace Food and Beverage Toolkit, Target BP, and others. I also worked closely with our NWA board of directors to increase engagement in health strategies and policy change. I coordinated the Vestido Rojo Health and Screening Event for Hispanic women in Northwest Arkansas. I also oversaw and mentored 4-6 interns each semester from the University of Arkansas' Public Health department. Accomplishments:-Successfully implemented a strategic plan to lower youth drug usage rates in Madison County, AR. From 2002 to 2009, past 30 day alcohol use has declined by an average of 10%, past 30 day cigarette usage has declined by an average of 8% and past 30 day spit tobacco use has declined by an average of 6.5%. (Arkansas Prevention Needs Assessment Student Survey, Madison County)-Wrote and received grant funding to hire 2 additional full-time and 2 additional part-time employees for the coalition.-Hired and trained 4 additional staff members and supervised the successful start-ups of their grant programs.-Wrote and received funding for over 30 grant applications totaling more than 1.75 million dollars.Executive Director. Madison County Community Coalition. Administrator for a Federal Drug Free Communities grant. Created strategic action plans to reduce youth drug use. Monitored and evaluated progress toward completing objectives and reaching goals. Completed required financial and narrative reports required by the funding agency.
