Dr. Singh is presently working as a post-doctoral researcher in Kyoto University, Japan. He has completed his PhD from Department of Chemistry,IIT Guwahati, India, followed by a post-doctoral research stay in POSTECH, Republic of Korea. During his post-doctoral and doctoral studies, he has worked in the field of supramolecular inorganic/organic chemistry and studied a variety of aspects of supramolecular chemistry including polymorphism, host-guest self-assembled networks, molecular recognition, organic gelation, solvatochromism, coordination complexes, metal-organic frameworks and liquid crystalline materials. Supramolecular chemistry is of his current research interest due to its extensive applications in catalysis, organic electronics, biomedical, separation techniques and as potential storage materials. His PhD thesis entitled as “Supramolecular chemistry of cyclic imides tethered carboxylic acids and related compounds” where he has applied bottom-up approach to synthesize various cyclic imide derivatives and studied a variety of aspects of imide conjugate chemistry. That types of naphthalene and perylene diimide derivatives have been widely used as promising active elements in photovoltaic devices, organic field effect transistors, electrophotographic and organic light emitting devices. A number of coordination polymers of cyclic imides with different transition metals were also synthesized and their physical properties were studied during his doctoral era. During his postdoctoral research in POSTECH, he has designed and synthesized MOFs of some multicarboxylate ligands with exciting applications in gas adsorption and catalysis. In his ongoing post-doctoral research term, he has successfully synthesized chiral all-organic and metal-organic nitroxide biradical LC compounds by using multistep synthetic procedures. These LC materials are paramagnetic and have potential applications in the field of optical data storage devices, biomedical and semiconductors.
