Director is responsible for managing all aspects of the business. from coordinating the concept of events, execution and realization of multiple highly complex Events. Works directly with artists, venues, and the public as well as technical teams. This position also oversees all communications, finance, and Sponsorships and Marketing.

Artist Statement : Rather than being held as a monolith of experience DeVery Bess (He/Him/They/Them), producer, Comedian, Disk Jockey, and Drag Artist is exploring mediocrity as a form of resistance to cishet and racist ideas of exceptionalism. To exist in the space of white supremacist colonial ideas of “best” is exhausting and requires unrealistic amounts of work. Being “the best” or DeVery Bess, isn’t necessarily the best. Mediocrity leaves room for joy, is full of potential and allows for new and exciting things to happen. To gain comfort in mediocrity is adjustment in service of exhibiting the multiplicity of artistry, drag, being. Mediocrity leaves space for viewers to also see themselves, or acknowledge their own discomfort with mediocrity and by extension possible failure.

The Creative Lead, Live Arts (CLLA) works closely with the Director, Artist and Program Development(DAPD) and the programming team to understand and support the artistic needs of our participants andworks to support our strategic direction. The Director relies on the CLLA to help implement a programplan that looks at the advancement of our artists through training and creation programs through a variety of mediums in the live arts as well as auxiliary programs that build capacity and support the continued professional development of artists.The CLLA will spend the majority of their working hours coordinating the LGBTQA+ Artist MentorshipProgram while bring brought into form the approach and development of other programs in the live arts(performances and outreach events). They will help inform approaches that will thoughtfully facilitate and grow the practices of artists with disabilities in live arts at the NaAC. This role will be pivotal in articulating a strategy for ensuring artists with disabilities are firmly in control of the presentation of their work while working with venues, contractors, technicians, and other arts professionals.The CLLA will meet with the team regularly to update on the status on projects. You will assist with theevaluation and tracking of each project, including updating budgets, participation trackers and how theproject serves artists’ practices.The CLLA will work alongside the Coordinator, Projects to ensure communications about the projectreach relevant stakeholders through social media, email campaigns etc.
