Devika Mehta is a Deputy Editor at Jagran New Media, the digital arm of India's largest print media group, Dainik Jagran. As an AI and media literacy trainer, she has trained and empowered more than 10,000 people (journalists, students, and citizens) on how to use and understand the evolving technology and combat misinformation online. She has more than 17 years of experience in the media industry, spanning across print, broadcast, and online platforms, in India and the US. A PhD candidate at Amity University, Devika is also researching the implications of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Indian journalism. Through her research, she is exploring the intersection of AI and journalism, and how technology can enhance news reporting, fact-checking, and storytelling in the digital age. She is passionate about the responsible and ethical use of AI in journalism, and the importance of perception, transparency, accountability, and community management. With her expertise in journalism and current research in AI, Devika is at the forefront of driving innovation in the field of media and technology.She is also part of the Research Assessment Panel (AI Observatory) of 'The Forum on Information and Democracy' and is a mentor for the 2024 Responsible Tech Mentorship Program by 'All Tech Is Human'.
