I worked as an Associate Director within PwC's Deals team, with a particular focus on Restructuring work. During my time at PwC, I also worked in the Consulting, Transaction Services and Digital Innovations teams. What inspired me through my various roles at PwC was the ability to build trusted relationships in order to work collaboratively with stakeholders, to solve a range of business issues. My work involved:• Analysing financial and non-financial information. • Assisting clients by completing a broad spectrum of business advice, including, independent business reviews, financial viability analysis, security position reviews, and performance monitoring. • Leading discussions and presenting to a wide range of audiences including, board of directors of a business, large groups of employees, negotiating trade deals with suppliers and customers.• Effectively dealing with insolvent trading businesses (receiverships and voluntary administrations) with the aim of maximising returns to key stakeholders preferably by selling the business as a going concern. • Building rapport in difficult and highly pressured situations, which are common traits of businesses in distress and statutory insolvency appointments. • Coaching and managing junior staff. At PwC, I was also: A PwC Foundation Champion (PwC’s charity) and a huge advocate of PwC’s financial literacy programme (FLiP) which helps primary school children understand basic financial concepts. A supporter of PwC’s vision of flexible working. I believe that with an ever-changing landscape of our working environment, we should be “outcomes driven” which may require us to challenge our views of traditional ways of working.

I started at Deloitte through their Graduate Programme and completed my CA while working for Deloitte. I worked on a number of key Audit assignments including Carter Holt Harvey, New Zealand Automobile Association and New Zealand Sugar. I found it particularly rewarding auditing non-profit organisations such as Oxfam and Ronald McDonald House. I was promoted 6 months early to Senior Audit Analyst.
