Title: Characterizing the role of transcription factors in conflict induced mutations.Under this project, I am examining the role of genetic factors and the mechanisms of mutations induced by replication-transcription collisions. My work primarily involves standard molecular and microbial biology techniques, bacterial genetics and protein expression.

However, the mechanism by which they regulate various cellular process is unclear and very little is known about the substrates of PRMT6. Hence, finding out novel substrates for PRMT6 can pave way for further studies to delineate the mechanisms by which PRMT6 regulates various cellular events. High throughput screening followed by mass spectrometric analysis done in our laboratory has revealed several proteins that could be potential putative substrates for PRMT6. Our study has concluded that, gram negative bacteria like Escherichia coli, Klebseilla pneumonia, Pseudomonas aueroginosa, Enterobacter and Serratia as the common causative agent for urinary tract infection in pregnant women.
