The work of the Resilience Team is closely aligned to the Framework for Resilient Development in the Pacific (FRDP) which is an integrated approach to address climate change and disaster risk management (DRM) in the Pacific Region. To implement the FRDP, I have been part of the steering committee and have been involved in the various stages of the formation of the Pacific Resilience Partnership which is a governance mechanism under the FRDP to bring together all climate change and DRM stakeholders together.

OCHA's Regional Office of the Pacific (ROP) covers 14 disaster-prone countries in the Pacific region and is the secretariat of the Pacific Humanitarian Team.My role as the Public Information Officer was to ensure timely, reliable and field-driven communications - which is a critical component of OCHA’s overall advocacy efforts. I attended the 5th International Young Leaders Assembly in Bangkok Thailand from 27th - 31st October. The IYLA was held in conjunction with the Asia-Pacific Forum on Youth Volunteerism to promote participation, Development and Peace. The IYLA is a premier leadership practicum initiated by the Global Peace Foundation and the Global young Leaders Academy in broad partnership to address the global challenges of the twenty first century. It provided young leaders from the Asia-Pacific Region as well as around the world for interactive programs at the UN Bangkok Conference Center, the Utokapat Foundation under the royal patronage of H.M. the King of Thailand, and many other venues in Bangkok. The program enhanced and pooled knowledge on the contributions and strategies of national volunteering and youth service across Asia-Pacific toward achievement of the United Nations MDGs and Post 2015 Sustainable Development Goals.

COY8 was held in Doha, Qatar from 23rd to 25th November, 2012. It was organised by YOUNGO and it took place before COP18, in Education City in Doha, bringing 400 international youths together to learn about the UNFCCC, build networks and to discuss the pressing environmental issues.COP18 was held over a period of two weeks (again in Doha, Qatar), from 26th November till 7th December, following COY8. COP is a supreme body of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) which comprises of more than 180 nations. Its role is to promote and review the implementations of the convention.
