Pittsburgh Brashear High School

Developed and teaching Russian program in close partnership with and support from the University of Pittsburgh's Center for Russian, East European & Eurasian Studies and Slavic Department. Works closely with Russian-speaking Uzbek community within the school and area. Partner school in Pitt's STARTALK intensive Russian immersion program. Partner school with University of Wisconsin-Madison's Pushin Institute's NSLI-Y program in Latvia.Teaches various levels of French, including College in High School. Trained AP French teacher. Brashear High School

Extensive leadership training through Coro Pittsburgh.Focused and ongoing training on race equity through Pacific Education Group. Trained in Charlotte Danielson method of teacher evaluation and support. Worked closely with other teachers to provide extra support to grow their practice. Specialization: Developed and coordinated Urban Scholars Program in cooperation with the University of Pittsburgh's School of Education and the Center for Urban Education. The Urban Scholars Program allowed Pitt graduate students who are particularly interested in urban education to earn a teaching credential, a masters degree, and a year of experience in Pittsburgh Public Schools and other urban districts.

Help students develop & organize annual presentations on LGBTQ issues to freshmen, staff and/or other groups as needed and requested. Helped to developed & to implement with administration and other staff a comprehensive policy to support transgender & gender non-conforming students.Successfully supported GSA students as they advocated for a district-wide transgender policy, which was implemented in July, 2016.
