News Director
I am currently the Morning and Noon News Director for WGEM-TV. I am responsible for the manual switching of shows, helping produce shows, check scripts, create graphics in photoshop, check camera shots, set up the studio, and edit videos.In addition, I have worked three separate live TV productions of Quincy Notre Dame/Quincy High School football and basketball games for WGEM-TV. Job duties included filming live games, operating sideline and end zone cameras, holding lights, working as a utility, filming highlights, and helping with creative fan shots.
Freelance Camera Operator / Stats / Utility
• As a camera operator for MC22 Sports, I help cover local high school and college athletics and have worked as main camera, sideline camera, and hero camera operator. I operate video recording and lighting equipment. I assist in running cables, setting up cameras and tripods, and capturing the talents' pregame standup. During the game, I follow game action per director's instructions, capture game play and sideline activity, and record the post game coach and player interviews. Once the production is over, I am responsible for putting away my camera and tripod, and assisting with rolling up cables. • For stats, I am responsible for assisting with pre-production set up, unrolling cables, and getting the starting line-ups for both teams. During the game, I am responsible for helping keep track of numerous stats such as score, timeouts, fouls/penalties, and more depending on the sport. Also during games, I have to work with my graphics coordinator to help load stats, and listen to my director's instructions.• As a utility, I am responsible for wrapping and unwrapping the cable for my sideline camera operator, making sure my camera operator is able to move around smoothly, making sure to bring the coach and player of the game over to the talent before they leave, and assisting other camera operators as needed.

• Acted as the Technical Director for the award winning Western Illinois University newscasts, which included a variety duties. For pre-production, I have to load videos into the TriCaster switcher, stack the videos in order, load macros used during the show, set up the stream for the show, load the commercials, set up the temperature and time for the bug, and make sure everything is running smoothly. During the actual production of the news, I am responsible for switching between cameras, videos, and full screen graphics. In addition, I have to take CG's in and out during the show, load and take stingers, assist my director with shot compositions, and listen to my director's commands. After the show is over, I turn off the stream and power down the TriCaster.• For Audio, before the shows I am responsible for miking the talent, performing microphone checks, testing video audio, and loading the music. During the show, I am responsible for muting and un-muting microphones, tracking sound for videos, fading music in and out before breaks, and tracking the sound for breaks. Once the show is over, I have to collect all microphones, put away microphones, put batteries back on the chargers, and turn off the CD player.• Also worked on the production crew for these news broadcasts. I have operated camera, teleprompter, and acted as floor director.• Acted as Technical Director for the production of the NEWS3 Decision Day 2018 Election Show which broadcast a live stream of election coverage.

• I have worked many different jobs for the ESPN3 & ESPN+ live broadcasts of several Western Illinois University sporting events - directing, technical directing, producing, camera operation, graphics, and audio.• As a Director, my responsibilities include a variety of different tasks for pre-production such as leading and instructing multiple camera operators, setting up cameras, white balancing, and loading graphics from XPression. In addition to pre-production duties, during the games I am responsible for instructing my technical director on which cameras to take live and when to go to replay, executing the script for the game, instructing camera operators on shot compositions, commanding my graphic coordinator to bring in and take out a variety of graphics, taking the show to and from breaks, making sure the crew stays calm under pressure, and finding solutions to problems as they arrive during the live production. Once the game is over, I assist with tearing down equipment, bringing in cables, and organize cables and equipment into the truck.• As a Technical Director, my responsibilities include switching between multiple cameras, bringing in graphics, and going in and out of replays. I also assist my director with any problems, command camera operators, and listen and pay close attention to my director's commands. • As a Producer, I am responsible for preparing the game day scripts, deciding which graphics and content are going to be used during the production, making sure the script is executed properly, adjusting the script as needed, and working with the director to assure the production is running smooth.• Also, filmed, edited, and produced two sports human interest packages that aired during WIU women's soccer and basketball productions. The software used was Final Cut Pro.
