I am a mid-career professional with a specialization in international education, grant administration, and working in inter-cultural environments. With experience in East Asian studies and foreign policy, I have cultivated opportunities in the United States and abroad which utilize my passion for the promotion of cultural understanding and exchange and grant-funded program management. I am a highly efficient and organized team-player who holds punctuality, mutual respect, and positivity with the utmost regard. I also can speak and understand conversational Japanese.In my current position, I manage the administration, budgeting, grant reporting, marketing, recruiting, and alumni relations of the Council on Foreign Relations' International Affairs Fellowship programs. I take initiative by cultivating and strengthening the fellowship network and facilitating connections between the Council and its university and government partners. At the Association for Public and Land-grant Universities (APLU), I managed the operations of the USAID-funded Board for International Food and Agricultural Development (BIFAD) and the Association's commission of senior international administrators and educators. I enjoyed coordinating logistics for office events, from half day workshops and business meetings to multi-day conferences attended by Senior International Officers from across North America. I have worked as an assistant language teacher, employed by the Japanese government via the Japan Exchange Teaching (JET) Programme in Maibara, Japan, teaching classes in rural elementary and junior high schools. In this position, I have had the opportunity to make full lesson plans, initiate cultural exchange and create interesting and interactive activities for ages five to fifteen. In my time as a teacher, I explored new and intriguing approaches to getting students involved in class. In 2018, I completed my Masters of Arts in International Training and Education and American University. I also have a Bachelor of Arts from the UCLA department of Asian Languages in Cultures in Japanese with a minor in political science.
