- I am currently a biomedical engineering student for the honors college of engineering at Virginia Tech with a graduations date of May 2024.- As a biomedical engineer I will ultimately make a difference in the lives of those around me by designing and improving upon existing and immerging technologies. - My goals are to graduate with a magna cum laude degree in biomedical engineering while gaining experience in undergraduate research and various internships and co-ops over the summer. - I have previous experience in Biomedical Engineering Department at Carolina East Hospital from May 2019 - July 2019. I was a volunteer in the department where I learned technical and soft skills necessary for the department.

    During my time in senior design I worked on a capstone project where my group and I was in charge of redesigning an IV pole to improve the efficiency and quality of care for patients as well as improving interaction between the user and the device. This project involved gathering user needs from nurses currently employed within the Carilion Clinic network and addressing these needs with innovative solutions. During this project we created a novel IV pole design that has been validated through benchtop testing and human factors studies with nurses to improve the stability, mobility and organization of IV poles.

    During this internship I was tasked with designing and building medical device prototypes. We would meet and interview inventers such as doctors, surgeons and other medical personal that worked at the Carilion Clinic in hopes of bringing the product to market. One medical device I personally worked on was able to get patented. I was able to learn and develop my understanding of the engineering design process and gain a fail first and fail often mentality to produce the best prototype for our stakeholders. Actively I worked in the CAD software OnShape and would 3D print using Prusa and Formlabs printers.
