In my role at WINLAB, my role is to take audio frequency data with noise from sampling and reconstruct the pure signal. I accomplish this through the use of Long Short Term Memory network layers in a Denoising AutoEncoder structure. The LSTM layers take in the sequence based data and through the AutoEncoder structure, compress the data down into a latent space. More LSTM layers then take this latent space encoding of the signal and generate a new signal. I train the model on the association between the noisy and pure data so the model can learn do discard noise as it compresses the original signal This Denoising AutoEncoder learns a broad band of signal frequencies to be able to provide a robust and accurate denoised signal.

I led Computer Science branch of team in coordination with the hardware branch integrating acoustics, digital signal processing, and machine learning. My team and I wrote and utilize Recurrent Neural Networks in TensorFlow to develop audio perturbations for adversarial attack on voice enabled devices such as Apple’s Siri, Amazon Alexa, and Google Home.

I lecture extensively on numerous basic ML/AI techniques to peers on a weekly basis. Topics range from newer deep learning items (gradient descent, CNNs, RNNs, NST, GANs, etc.) to more traditional methods (such as linear ridge/lasso regression, clustering algorithms, boosting and ensemble learning, PCA, haar cascading, minimax, etc.).

I lead a team of interns working to accurately and efficiently predict the root cause of IT systems failures using Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence techniques. My team and I script automatic log parsing from massive datasets of raw log output to classify log message types and extract parameters. Upon this classified dataset, we use frequency, keyword, and machine learning analysis to identify messages that deviate from the norm.
