While working as a paralegal for five-and-a-half years at a civil litigation firm that practiced habitability and personal injury, I have assisted with trial prep, drafted various types of pleadings and demand letters, responded to and propounded large amounts of discovery, and called clients to gather information and documents for their case. It was extremely rewarding to help our clients, who were living in horrific conditions, or had been severely injured in an accident, try to get back on their feet or move to a better home for their family.At the treatment center for foster youth, I built relationships with the kids, helped them follow their program, taught life skills, effective communication skills, and provided crisis intervention when they were struggling. Knowing the unfortunate trajectory in life for most foster youth, and helping redirect them to a healthier path in life, was extremely fulfilling.I am continuing my legal career so that I can put myself in the best position possible to continue to help those in need.
