Network Administrator

Us

My primary responsibilities in this position is the maintenance and design of switching, routing, and firewalling for the roughly forty school districts we serve in addition to ESU 10's data center. I also serve as a back up for wireless, content filtering, PRTG monitoring, and Windows/UNIX servers (focusing mainly on networking related services).Notable projects include the following:1. Multiple automation projects including a config backup solution utilizing Netmiko and Python to automate backups of 400+ HPE/Aruba switches and successfully integrated this with ESU 10's custom asset management application, an application to automate firmware upgrades of HPE/Aruba switches, a script to verify spanning tree configs, which also reports findings and blocked ports to PRTG's API, and various other scripts.2. Led a re-design effort at Grand Island Northwest Public Schools to replace ageing ASAs, site-to-site VPNs, and static routing with Aruba layer-3 switches and OSPF routing over a Charter EP-LAN circuit between four buildings.3. Brought up a 10Gb BGP peer to Network Nebraska for our data center's primary circuit.4. Replaced our main data center pair of pfSense firewalls with a FortiGate 500E HA pair. In addition to swinging all of ESU 10's most critical services to this new HA pair, it also serves as the hub of a site-to-site VPN aggregator to allow for off-site DC replication.I maintain a vendor-agnostic mindset, but I have worked extensively with FortiGate, pfSense, Cisco ASA, HPE/Aruba, and Cumulus Linux OSs in this position with proficiency in their related technologies such as VPNs (road-warrior, site-to-site), AD-integration, VLANs, OSPF, BGP, MLAG/LACP, etc.
