About Devin Strynkowski, Mph
I graduated St. Lawrence University in 2018 and received my MPH from the University of Pittsburgh in 2021. I am currently working on a research project aimed at identifying and modeling interventions implemented by problem solving courts and traditional correctional facilities that positively affect morbidity and mortality for individuals arrested for drug misuse. I hope this research and future experiences will lead me to a career where I enact programs and policies that will educate and strengthen the health of individuals and communities.Fun facts about me: I am a runner and former youth track coach making me, like most runners, extremely disciplined. I consider myself a leader, someone who recognizes a need and can lead a team to enact a solution. I am a member of the 2012 PA State Gold Medal Cross Country Team. Soccer is the sport I watch; Go Portland Thorns. I like a good adventure. I have hiked 8 of 47 the Adirondack high peaks, went to the 2019 World Cup in France, and even "Edge Walked" on the CN Tower in Toronto. My personal mantra is "your greatness is not what you have, it is what you give".

Performed data collection, research, and analysis pertaining to healthcare inequality in the Mon Valley. The research used a “Health in All Policies” approach focused on health equity surrounding social determinants of health. The goal was to connect the health department with community stakeholders for the purpose of introducing a new protocoled aimed at raising the overall health of the Mon Valley. Prepared a new Mon Valley protocol based on the research to highlight gaps in service as well as recommended approaches for closing and/or resolving the gaps. Presented new Mon Valley protocol and presentation to multiple department leadership teams which outlined ways to break down barriers between ACHD programs in how they are publicly communicating about or work and also in how they are presenting data to the community.
